Best Ever Chewy Ginger Cookies, version 6

2 1/2 c flour
2 1/2 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 c candied ginger
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 c butter
1/2 c shortening
3/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c molasses
granulated sugar for rolling

Mix dry ingredients together. Add chopped candied ginger. Cream fats with brown sugar. Add eggs and molasses. Combine dry ingredients with butter mixture. Roll into balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake in a 350 F oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
